GOALS AND OBJECTIVES 

Teaching undergraduate students (BDS) the subject of clinical biochemistry. To make them to understand the scientific basis of the biomolecules even at the molecular level & orient them towards the application of the knowledge gained in solving clinical problems.

Undergraduate teaching

  • Biochemistry deals with chemistry of life. Biochemistry is one of the core subject of study in dental disciplines. Human health is maintained with the well-coordinated activities of several hundred & thousands of biochemical reactions that take place each moment in the body.

The biochemistry explains the molecular basis of life & hence it is mandatory to learn the basic concepts of the subject to understand the dynamics of the dental sciences. Only the fundamental concepts & principles along with their applications are need to be studied/learnt by the dental students.

Biochemistry syllabus for dental science: I BDS

Theory: General biochemistry, clinical biochemistry, nutrition & general aspects of molecular biology.

Practicals: Qualitative & quantitative experiments as well as demonstrations

Post graduate teaching programme

Postings to the basic biochemistry knowledge including clinical diagnosis for better patient management. Seminars and case study discussion. Dissertation support.

Department facilities

  1. Under graduate practical hall with 30 student capacity.
  2. Lecture theatre with LCD projector.
  3. Department library with adequate number of reference books.
  4. Department is equipped with adequate number of instruments & equipment’s for under graduate, post graduate teaching and research activity.

Research activity

Faculties are encouraged to involve in active research & getting grants. Faculties are attending conferences, CME & CDE – Programmes also presenting the research papers.
