Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology

Department Overview

Oral Medicine is a branch of dental science which is at the interface between Medicine and Dentistry to promote optimal health to all. Diagnosis of oral soft and hard tissue lesions, dental management of medically compromised patients, non-invasive management of mucosal lesions, chronic orofacial pain, temporomandibular disorders & salivary gland diseases and tobacco cessation centre is emphasized here thus contributing to a comprehensive patient care. Oral Radiology deals with the techniques and interpretation of radiographs of the maxillofacial region for diagnosis and treatment planning.

Dr Deepak Daryani completed his Masters in Oral Medicine & Radiology from A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute Of Dental Sciences in 2007 under Rajiv Gandhi University Of Health Sciences. He has 14 years of undergraduate teaching and 12 years of Post Graduate Teaching experience.

Why Oral Medicine & Radiology Department is Special ?

Oral Medicine is a branch of dental science which is at the interface between Medicine and Dentistry to promote optimal health to all. Diagnosis of oral soft and hard tissue lesions, dental management of medically compromised patients, non-invasive management of mucosal lesions, chronic orofacial pain, temporomandibular disorders & salivary gland diseases and tobacco cessation centre is emphasized here thus contributing to a comprehensive patient care. 

Oral Radiology deals with the techniques and interpretation of radiographs of the maxillofacial region for diagnosis and treatment planning. The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology of Malabar Dental College & Research Centre is the place where the initial screening of all outpatients attending the hospital is performed and clinical and radiographic diagnosis of various diseases of the oral and para oral structures is established. Here, the undergraduate and post graduate students work under close supervision of proficient  faculties. We have specialized Tobacco Cessation Centre, TMJ Clinic & Dry Mouth Clinic. Radiology department  is equipped with extra oral skull unit ,  digital panoramic unit, digital intra oral radiography , Intraoral radiography machines & an innovative  intra oral radiology simulation area. The Department is involved in various research and collaborative activities.  With the help of eminent faculties and excellent facilties every student in the department is exposed to a wide range of cases and is moulded in such a way that they are confident in their ability to manage any case in their clinics.
