Department of Orthodontics

Department Overview

The department deals with the treatment of patients with malocclusions and Dentofacial deformities. This correction not only gives pleasing aesthetics, but also helps in psychological uplifting and boosting self confidence. Department also deals with preventive and interceptive treatments helping to avoid major comprehensive treatments which may arise later. The students are trained under the expertise of the faculties who are well qualified to teach the subject.Postgraduate are trained to impart comprehensive orthodontic treatment .Seminars are conducted to helps them nurturing theoretical knowledge and journal clubs familiarise in latest developments. All cases are treated  after group discussion, which points out various possibilities in treatment plan and could provide the best outcome for the patient.

Dr. Nizaro Siyo

Professor and Head of Department

Dr. Nizaro Siyo is an Esteemed and Passionate orthodontist since 1994 and conscientious academician since 2006. He was a BDS and MDS gold medalist and became IDA Kerala state president 2014 & President of IDA Malabar 2004- 2005. He received best state branch president award. He was the man behind IDA HOPE ,the most appreciated welfare scheme in IDA (charter sectary and proposer).

Our greatest strength is highly qualified, skilled, experienced, dedicated, and approachable faculties who molds the students into knowledgeable and skillful Orthodontist. We have the best infrastructure with state of the art equipments to handle all sort of orthodontic cases.

We prepare cases for orthognathic surgery. Nemo Ceph digital software is utilised for case analysis.We have a patient friendly front office dealing reception and appointments.Eco friendly clinic with well equipped facilities for treatment and proper sterilization protocol.

With all of the above we fix our motto as “Excellence in orthodontic training and provide high quality clinical patient care”

Calm, pleasant and comfortable reception area which consists patient waiting area and receptionist

  • Well established ecofriendly PG Clinics

The PG clinic is well equipped with instruments and latest technology devices used in regular clinical practice. A separate PG preclinical and seminar room is designed and well equipped .Post Graduates are provided a separate clinical working area.

  • Photographic room

A Studio occupied with latest digital cameras & tripod for recording all clinical photographs

  • Record room

An organized record section to keep the pre and post treatment records

  • Computer room

Advanced digital cephalometric area for better evaluation of radiographs

  • Lab area

A Separate UG &PG lab area present in the department.A well equipped lab to do the various laboratory procedures from model trimming to appliance fabrication.

  • UG clinic

A Well established ecofriendly  UG clinic with sufficient number of dental chairs and separate working areas for third years, final years and house surgeons.

  • Comprehensive Clinic

It is an all inclusive way to take care of patient’s oral health. Wide range of services and fast treatment are provided for the patient. The treatment ranges from preventive to restorative to cosmetic dentistry dentist can provide comprehensive treatment , so that patient can get all of the care they need in one place.

The Undergraduate students and House Surgeons in Comprehensive Dental Clinic acquire greater understanding of multidisciplinary treatment planning and patient management for the purpose of augmenting the clinical experiences of students

All the procedures like scaling,restorations,bleaching,appliance therapy are provided in this clinic by the same student who diagnosed the patient. All the dental services and specialized equipments are provided for the patient in an single area and all the services are provided under the guidance of dental specialist from respective departments.

Along with college central library we have a department library with variety of books, various seminars and journals. Seminars are conducted by post graduates under the supervision of  HOD and staffs
