Department Overview

Department of Physiology discovers and promotes knowledge of how the human body functions through an understanding of cells, organs and systems. The Department maintains a scientific community that fosters excellence in teaching and will train the next generation of dentists through the efforts of faculty, students, and staff.  This Department mainly emphasized on lectures and practical classes. This Department also delivered the lectures with the help of audio-visual presentation along with group discussion among the students. The faculties of this department provide the study materials to the students along with question banks and e- books as well as web links to the various educational sites.

Why Physiology Department is Special ?

Goal
Teaching of undergraduate students in Physiology aims at providing the student comprehensive knowledge of the normal functions of the organ systems of the body to facilitate an understanding of the physiological basis of health and disease. 

Vision
Imparting physiology knowledge to lay a strong foundation for learning medicine and quality medical research. 

Mission
Understanding physiological mechanisms to carry out evidence based innovative teaching and quality scientific research thereby contributing to human welfare. 

Objectives
At the end of the course the student will be able to:

1. Explain the normal functioning of all the organ systems and their interactions for well-coordinated total body function;
2. Assess the relative contribution of each organ system to the maintenance of homeostasis and elucidate the physiological aspects of normal growth and development;
3. Describe the physiological response and adaptations to environmental stresses.
4. List the physiological principles underlying pathogenesis and treatment of diseases and can Interpret experimental/investigative data.
5. Able to Distinguish between normal and abnormal data derived as a result of tests, which he/she has performed and observed in the laboratory.
At the end of the course he student should acquire an integrated knowledge of organ structure and function and the regulatory mechanisms of human body.
