Department of Public Health Dentistry

Department Overview

The Department of Public Health Dentistry deals with the prevention of oral disease and promotion of oral health. The department is involved in the assessment of key dental health needs and come up with effective solution to improve the dental health of population rather than individuals. The department conducts various outreach programs, institution adoption programs, school dental health programs etc. The department has a wonderful museum containing various patient education models, health education charts, and an antique dental chair. Public Health Dentistry adds to the evidence-based dentistry through research works & biostatistical analysis of recent advances in dental science.

Dr Abdul Saheer,
BDS,MDS ,(PhD)

Professor and Head of Department

Dr Abdul Saheer is a passionate academician working as Head of the department with 5+
years of teaching experience. He's thoroughly a dedicated teacher and emphasizes on one on
one teaching interactions with students as to grasp their attention towards the subject. He has
completed BDS from Kannur university (2004-2009) and secured University rank from
RGUHS in MDS exam for the academic year of 2013-2016. He is,currently, pursuing  PhD
under KUHS. A number of awards were rewarded under his name such as AKS Global
faculty award 2021, Indian Health Professional award 2020, RULA Dental researcher award
2019. He, also, has 33 National and international publications. Furthermore, he encourages
and guides the students to conduct research, thereby introducing them in the field of research.
His expertise not only ends with his expertise on research, but also has vast knowledge
domain in Biostatistics too. Due to his immense interest towards academics, later years,  he
innovated a teaching online platform for all the students across the globe by creating his very
own youtube channel (Dentistry n more). Its that handle where each dental expertise teach
and explain their respective subjects and clarify the doubts instilled within the viewers. He
organises various outreach programmes and  thus, provides health awareness classes to the
public at the best of his ability. He is currently collaborating with Zone school of Business
studies,London as research consultant.
