Post Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities

The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker sections of minority community so as to provide them better opportunities for higher education, increase their rate of attainment in higher education and enhance their employability.

Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of whose parents/guardians from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.00 lakh

Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis) have been notified as minority communities under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992. A total of five (05) lakh scholarships are targeted to be distributed as ‘Fresh’ Scholarships, besides, Renewal scholarships. The distribution of scholarship among the States/Union Territories will be made on the basis of population of minorities in the States/Union Territories as per Census 2001 for 2017-18 and as per the population of minorities in the States/Union Territories of Census 2011 for 2018-19 and 2019-20 (as per Appendices- A & B).

30% scholarship is earmarked for girls students of each minority community in a State/UT which is transferable to male students of that community in case of non-availability of female students in that community in the concerned State/UT. 30% is the floor and not the ceiling for eligible girl students. ii) If the physical target of scholarship for a particular minority community in a state/UT is not utilized, it will be distributed among the same minority community in other States/UTs strictly in accordance with merit and without disturbing the national ratio. Any unutilized community quota shall be distributed amongst other communities again in accordance with merit and without affecting the overall national quota. iii) A student residing in a particular State/UT will be entitled for scholarship under the quota of that State/UT only irrespective of his/her place of study.

The scholarship, once awarded, may be renewed during the next academic year of the course on the production of certificate that the student has secured 50% marks in the previous year’s examination (provided the students pursues the same course and same Institute/School).

The scheme is implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). It is mandatory for all students to apply online on the website i.e. www.scholarships.gov.in.

The scholarships shall be provided for the entire course of the academic year.

Merit Cum Means Scholarship For Professional and Technical Courses CS

The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities to enable them to pursue professional and technical courses.

Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of whose parents/guardians from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh.

Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis) have been notified as minority communities under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992. A total of 60,000 scholarships are targeted to be distributed as ‘Fresh’ Scholarships, besides, Renewal scholarships. The distribution of scholarship among the States/Union Territories will be made on the basis of population of minorities in the States/Union Territories as per Census 2001 for 2017-18 and as per the population of minorities in the States/Union Territories of Census 2011 for 2018-19 and 2019-20 (as per Appendices- A & B).

  1. Scholarship will be provided for the entire academic year/course. Similarly, the maintenance allowance will be given as fixed lump sum amount for an academic year (Rs. 10,000/- for Hosteller and Rs. 5,000/- for Day Scholar).

There is a list of 85 Reputed Premier Institutes, covered under the scheme, for which a student is eligible for full Course Fee reimbursement as scholarship during an academic year. A list of such Institutes is at Appendix – C.

The scholarship, once awarded, may be renewed during the next academic year of the course on the production of certificate that the student has secured 50% marks in the previous year’s examination (each semester / trimester of previous year provided the students pursues the same course in the same Institute).

SC/ST FEE WAIVER

POST MATRIC EDUCATION

The Department gives financial help for educational purposes to those students studying +1 and above.At present these benefits are being distributed through the ATM’s in the name of E –Grants. Online applications are to be submitted in the beginning of the year through Akshaya Kendras. Following the online application ,original copies are to be submitted to the District Scheduled Caste Development Officer through the head of the institution. Caste Certificate, Income Certificate, copy of the SSLC and certificates proving the educational qualifications of the student should be attached along with the application.Rate of grants are stated below.Lumpsum Grant

  • Degree – Rs. 950/-
  • PG – Rs. 1250/-
  • Professional Courses Rs. 350 to 2500 according to the course

A monthly stipend of RS. 500, RS 600 is gives based on distance from house to the institution to all students.

There are 17 hostels being run under the department for those students admitted to the post metric courses.Department provides Food ,Rs.100/- to 150/- as pocket money per month and TA at the time of onam and christmas vacations for the inmates. There are facilities for entertainment such as sports, library facilities.Financial aids are provided for the inmates of Govt. College hostels, approved hostels of aided college and self- financed colleges. A boarding grant of 1500/- per month is given to those studying professional courses, who have not received hostel facilities.

Cash award is given to students with high performance in annul examinations. The rates are given below:-

Applications in the prescribed form should be submitted to the scheduled caste development officer along with the caste certificate and copies of the mark lists.

The Department provides financial help to those students who got admission on merit or reservation basis in self financing institutions and universities for proffesional courses.The amount of fees is on the basis of Government rates.In addition to that, stipend and Lumpsum grants are also given. Online application is to be submitted through Akshaya Kendras.

The Department provides financial support to students admitted to Med/Eng Courses, Rs 10,000/- for medical students and Rs 5000/- for engineering students. The applications are to be submitted to the District Scheduled Caste Development Officer with relevant papers showing the admission details, caste and Income.Annual Income Limit of parents will be

C H Muhammedkoya Scholarship Eligibility Details

Professional Courses: Rs. 7,000/Year

Hostel Stipend: Rs. 13,000/Year

1. Should belong to Muslim, Latin, Converted Christian community and should be a native of Kerala.

2. Should be a GIRL student studying for Graduation or Higher courses in Govt./ Aided Institution.

3. Students who got admission to Self financing colleges from merit seat are also eligible to apply for this scholarship.

4. Should have scored 50% or above in the qualifying Examination.

5. Family Annual income should not exceed 8 Lakhs.

6. Those who apply for Hostel stipend should be staying in recognized hostels.

7. THOSE WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR HOSTEL STIPEND WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR SCHOLARSHIP.

FISHERIES SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship granted to the children of fishermen of Kerala based on merit and the income status by the Department of fisheries, Kerala

ALAVI HAJI MEMORIAL TRUST SCHOLARSHIP

Given to the students studying in this college who are financially backward and is by provided by the management of the college.
