The General Surgery Department started functioning in 2007 with its fine infrastructure and adequate number of cadavers.

The Department of General Surgery explore the structure in human body, which is the essential basic knowledge required for health care professionals. The department is well furnished with modern teaching and learning equipment which makes the learning process easy and compatible.

Why General Surgery Department is Special ?

General surgery is a wide-ranging area of surgery with many subspecialties. The defining feature of general surgeons is that they have a wide range of knowledge and skills to deal with all kinds of surgical emergencies, with an emphasis on acute abdominal problems. They also carry out a large number of elective operations. General surgeons are particularly needed in remote or rural settings due to their broad range of competence. In trauma services they deal with injuries to the abdomen and chest.

Dr. Gopinath K V

Professor and Head Of Department

Dr. Gopinath K V is a highly experienced, dedicated, energetic surgeon who completed his bachelor’s degree from Bangalore University and Masters from Gulburga University. He is a well qualified, keen observer, who has shown excellence in his field since many years. Apart from being a great surgeon he is also well known for his teaching skills.
