Department Overview

Department of Physiology discovers and promotes knowledge of how the human body functions through an understanding of cells, organs and systems.

Department maintains a scientific community that fosters excellence in teaching and will train the next generation of dentists through the efforts of faculty, students, and staff. This Department mainly emphasized on lectures and practical classes. This Department also delivered the lectures with the help of audio-visual presentation along with group discussion among the students. The faculties of this department provide the study materials to the students along with question banks and e- books as well as web links to the various educational sites.

To provide the best in class training to students in basic and applied physiology by adopting the most relevant teaching – learning methods & contribute significant new knowledge to the society.

Provide an environment that permits faculty, staff, and students the opportunity to further develop their professional skills and expertise and realize their potential.

Department Facilities

  • The discipline is a core subject for Bachelor degrees in Dentistry in I st year and Basic Science subject in MDS
  • Fully equipped Practical Lab for conducting Physiology Experiments
  • Our laboratory provides the latest and sophisticated equipment and facilities to conduct all the experiments as per the syllabus.
  • The microscopes provided for the students are of high standard with good resolution and lighting. The lab can accommodate up to 50 students comfortably at any time.
  • Our department library has standard books recommended by dental council.
  • The faculty is highly experienced and qualified as per DCI and Kerala University of Health sciences norms.
  • Students are given periodic tests to assess their knowledge as well as assist them in coping up for their exams. We conduct student friendly interactive sessions, discussions and seminars to improve their knowledge and make the students actively participate in the learning process.
